Managing Partner (National)

Orvel Currie practices throughout Western Canada (Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta) in the areas of corporate commercial law, complex tax planning, Municipal law including governance, land development, environmental and energy initiatives.

With a focus on complex corporate commercial transactions and his creative approach, Orvel is committed to knowing his corporate commercial client and their niche in the market in order to service their ever-changing legal needs. He is closely committed to his clients from the onset of a transaction to its final completion and able to deliver client focused legal solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner. Orvel has extensive corporate experience with business development, start up, corporate structure and reorganization, corporate governance, partnership, shareholder and joint venture agreements.  His commercial practice encompasses high-level commercial transactions, leasing and security, mergers and acquisitions, International (US) transactions, takeovers, banking, private finance, capital market, construction projects, competition law compliance, intellectual property and related licensing and the patent process, and cyber security.

Orvel has a long history in government relations and a broad range of experience working with all levels of Canadian governments throughout Western Canada including municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments. He regularly advises all levels of governments and quasi-municipal entities on public policy issues and assists them through regulatory matters.

He has served on firm Management Committees, Risk Management Committees and is Team Leader of the Municipal Law Practice Group.
