Mr. Sawkiw practices in the areas of municipal and business law. Today, his practice focuses on municipal powers, by-laws (including enforcement remedies), planning and development agreements, and zoning. Mr. Sawkiw also regularly advises corporations with respect to governance, contracts, shareholder agreements and financing. Mr. Sawkiw has experience in several additional areas of practice, including administrative law, securities law, real estate, wills, estates and litigation.

Prior to attending law school at the University of Calgary, Mr. Sawkiw attended Queen's University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics. He also attended McMaster University, where he obtained his Master of Business Administration from the DeGroote School of Business.
